The number of international students enrolled in the US has increased 72% since 2000, but what do we know about how mobile U.S. students are? Do they tend to stay local or attend school in a different state? How many want to study abroad? We teamed up with StudentUniverse, a student travel resource, to bring you this infographic. To break down how far students travel even more, we examined ’s exclusive data about specific states and found these takeaways: Students from Utah, Wisconsin, and California are the most likely to stay in-state. 70% of students from Utah don’t leave the state to attend college. Students from Hawaii, North Dakota, and Rhode Island were the most likely to head out of state. Only 8% of Hawaiians stayed in-state. Where do students go when they go out of state? Students from Hawaii prefer schools in California, while North Dakotans and Rhode Islanders prefer Massachusetts. The title of most popular overall state that students choose when they leave their home states goes to Massachusetts, followed by California and then Pennsylvania. Out-of-state enrollment just barely eked out a win over in-state enrollment: 50.4% of students on choose to go to school outside of their home state. This topic is important because it will contain detailed information about the causes and effects of drug use, and the impact of substance abuse on society. Substance use is the consumption of low or infrequent doses of alcohol and other drugs, sometimes called experimental, casual, or social use, such that damaging consequences may be rare or minor. Addiction is the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity. In a CAMH 2009 study, 17.8% of Ontario students in gr. 7-12 use prescription pain relievers non-medically. That's just under 200,000 students - and that's just Ontario! Prescription drugs are the third most commonly abused substances by students in Ontario behind alcohol and marijuana. This research will explain the different types of substance abuse such as, no use, experimental use, social or occasional use, meditational use, har mful use and dependence. Substance abuse can include, alcohol, prescription drugs, street drugs and any form of opioids. These types of substances when abused can lead to criminal penalty, and can harm the user physically, socially, and psychologically. My main research questions is: How does substance abuse and addiction affect an individual and the society? A potential answer to this question can be it effects the persons health, social life and can cause financial issues through rehab treatments or supporting the addiction. Substance abuse affects the society because it is linked to homelessness, crime rates, and also influences violent and risky behavior which is costly to society. Other questions that will be answered include: What Are the Harmful Consequences of Drug Use? Why Do People Use Drugs? What is addiction? These three questions will go more in depth to the main research question, which will lead to a better understanding of substance abuse and addiction and its effect on a person and society. What Are the Harmful Consequences of Drug Use? Drugs are not considered harmful when used for medical purposes, illegal drug use causes harmful consequences such as, physical, mental, legal, economic and social problems. Safety hazards are a main concern for drug users, because they can distort reality, and can cause impaired sense of memory,and attention.This can cause the user harm to themselves or others around, ex, driving under the influence is a danger to an individual and the society. Knowing the tolerance level is another main factor for an individual using, users tend to increase their drug dosage in order to get the same effect, the body does not have always adapt to the new tolerance level, which leads to organ failure and overdose (OToole, 2014). Overdose can be fatal and may cause death depending on what drug and how much it is consumed, if survived from an overdose it leads to many metal and physical disabilities. Excessive use of substances lead to physical and mental health problems. Physical problems vary from what kind of substance being abused, alcohol will damage the liver, smoking tobacco or marijuana will damage the lungs, using needles to inject may cause HIV or Aids, and sniffing any form of powered drugs will damage the nose tissues. Drugs can also cause lung cancer, leukemia,and ovarian cancer( Associated Press, 2014). Mental health can include behavior problems, anxiety, depression, memory loss, and learning disability. Mental and physical health problems are the most harmful consequences an addict will have to face. According to a study published this month in The Lancet by Dr. Ben Kim, alcohol and tobacco rank among the ten most dangerous substances used by humans. Both alcohol and tobacco have been assessed to be more dangerous than illegal drugs like marijuana or ecstasy. Substance abuse and addiction can be just as harmful to the society as it is to the individual. Crime and violence correlate with substance abuse, in many studies and investigations it shows that most crime offenders have or use drugs. It should be built on the results of the market research and the specific value proposition of a product or service. In general, a marketing plan is a shorter form of a business plan that has a limited scope and marketing emphasis. I have chosen UK chocolate confectionary market to present a market plan for an updated product. Market Overview: Chocolate sales in Europe have been growing steadily. The UK confectionery market achieved year-on-year growth for the last five to six years to reach a value of  £4.53bn i.e. the sales have increased by 13%. The overall European chocolate sales increased by 15% and the United Kingdom itself accounts for nearly 30% of European chocolate consumption. Product Overview: So far the need for innovation and the product development techniques has been explained. On the basis of these discussions I would like to use the opportunity to develop a new product in the confectionary market. Taking the existing products of Cadbury such as Cadbury Picnic, Cadbury Crunchie and Boost chocolate bars as well as Cadbury Crà ¨me Eggs, I have thought of updating Cadbury chocolate bars by producing a new chocolate bar and the Crà ¨me Eggs by producing another egg shaped product. The analysis of innovation need suggests that launch of new product can help Cadbury to attract more customers and thus increase market share in a highly competitive market of chocolate confectionary. Assuming the results obtained from the techniques for new product development and analyzing the market overview, I would say that a new product can be launched in the market and thats why I have thought of updating Cadburys existing products into other new products. This Cadburys new chocolate bar will be known as CADBURY LEMON BAR and the new egg shaped product will be known as CADBURY CHOCOLATE LEMONS. The bar name has been selected because this chocolate bar will be having an internal layer of sweet lemon tart and externally it will be covered with a mix of chocolate and fine grains of peanuts. N.B: (In the report the word Cadbury Lemon means both the updated products i.e. Cadbury Lemon Bar and Cadbury Chocolate Lemons). Market Segmentation: Understanding the needs and desires of consumers creates the opportunity for new products to be developed and brought to the market, meeting these needs and generating incremental sales. Chocolate confectionary is a mass market attracting customers and consumers of almost every age group and gender, but those who like eating chocolate. The target market for both the Cadbury Lemon products can include children of age 5 to 13 years in terms of consumers and the parents to pay for the product in terms of customers. Further more it can be expanded from children of age 14 to young people and then onwards to aged people (65+) as long as they keep their interest in their chocolate eating habit. The product would also be suitable for vegetarians and further more it would be excluded of any religious issues such as alcohol free etc. In terms of income and price of the product there isnt any need to be selective to choose a particular group of audience as everybody can easily afford to buy a b ar of chocolate or a pack of chocolate sweets i.e. Cadbury Lemon Bar and Cadbury Chocolate Lemons. Snacking Today: Snacking today is the second largest segment in the UK confectionary market with a share of over 28%. Cadbury Lemon chocolate bar is such a product which is mainly bought for immediate personal consumption. The target market of this product would be people who will buy a chocolate bar and eat it. It does not identify any particular segment but includes everybody having an access to the stores and retail shops where they will find the product, buy it and consume it. For Home: The products in this category are those which are bought for consumption sometime later. Thus in this category both the products i.e. Cadbury Lemon Bar and Cadbury Chocolate Lemons will fit properly in this category of products. These two products would target people who like filling their cupboards with chocolate to consume them for different purposes e.g. filling lunch boxes or as a treat after evening meals. For home is a category which is more about the products to be eaten by the customers i.e. both male and female partners, their children and parents and as well as by other consumers such as visitors or guests visiting at different times e.g. evening tea time and so on. Thus the company has been using its strengths to always go for producing new products as well as updating the existing ones. National advertising and sales promotion support sales of Cadbury and for instance, Cadbury has been spending heavily to launch new chocolate products or building sales during Easter or other holiday periods. There might also be some weaknesses that could be associated with it. Most of the people see chocolates as an affordable luxury and therefore buy such products for themselves and also for gifts. People are adopting the habits of giving chocolate as gifts on different occasions like Christmas, Valentines Day and Birthdays etc which has increased the opportunities in terms of increase in demand for the product. However the threats are always there when a company launches a new product. Goals and Objectives: For this marketing plan I would say that the goals and objectives are simply the facts describing where the company i.e. Cadbury wants to be. The goals and objectives can be divided into two parts. Sales Goals: For many organizations the ultimate goal of the marketing plan is the effect it will have on the bottom line. Sales goals would be in terms of the sales figures estimated to be achieved. Until 2005, Cadbury has been earning great sums of profits and the further need is to increase the profits or maintain the profitability of the company up to a level at least meeting the required levels. The Subject of Love in Hawthorne's Rappaccini's Daughter Many spend their entire life looking for true love. It is that one love between a man and a woman that spurred spin-off stories of every kind for us to watch on TV or to read in books. Rappaccini's Daughter is a perfect example of this age old search for an inner peace, believed only to be found in a relationship with that "perfect" person. Giovanni sought this peace and believed he had found the one for him. Unfortunately, Giovanni was only led into disappointment after overcoming the obstacles that were in his was and then losing her after the fact. All of this leaves a question to be abswered; is it better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all? Giovanni felt a need to seek love in his life, only to find a young lady that inded caused him to seek her out. This young lady was of course Dr. Rappaccini's daughter, Beatrice, whom Giovanni first saw in the garden below from his window. This was only the beginning of the always painstakingly brutal process that two people encounter as they start on their journey toward the actual "in love" stage. Fortunatley for Giovanni, Beatrice did take a special interest in him. Beatrice came from a rather background. Her father had raised her as one of his many experiments. The downfall to this was the fact that she was a walking, talking poisonous flower created by Rappaccini, just like his other poisonous plants. Giovanni did not know this however. It was without this knowledge that he pursued her and they became well acquainted to each other. It would not be until later that Giovanni would find out this truth that few knew about. Giovanni was overwhelmed with this relationship that he had acquired with Beatrice. Their lives had almost come to the point of living and "breathing" each other. This is actually one of the first clues to Beatrice's lifelong handicap. It is her breath Giovanni notices that has such a sweet aroma to it, just as sweet as that of the aroma released from one of her father's plants. Giovanni had also noticed, the first day he peered into the garden, that Beatrice had touched and sniffed of all the plants which her father was so careful not to get close to or touch.
